Bourbon and Boweties owner Carley Ochs makes a personal appearance at Nordstrom Tampa

Boweties made a personal appearance today at the Nordstrom store located at the
International Plaza in Tampa.
less than 2 years ago out of her garage in Plant City and her jewelry is now in
over 700 stores nationwide. Now, you guys know
that I am a huge fan of jewelry and that I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I
love Carley story and the fact that she was from Tampa, I had to go and meet her.
making her signature bangles with natural stones for her friends and family and
with their encouragement, she showed them to a store in South Carolina who immediately
agreed to sell them. After that everyone
has find her through word of mouth and her appearances in trade shows and trunk
shows, she does not advertise. She uses social media to keep up with her fans
on Facebook and Instagram.
jewelry became difficult for Carley and after training her mom and her brother’s
girlfriend to help her, she decided to hire local women to help her keep up
with it. Today more than 120 women
from the Tampa Bay area including cities like Plant City, Valrico, Lakeland and
Tampa make the bracelets for her company. A lot of the women are stay-at-home
moms, nurses and teachers, looking to make some extra money.
uses local labor instead of manufacturing them in China for example helps to keep
the costs of the bracelets down (all bracelets retail for less than $50).
The local women become contractors after attending a training to learn how to
make the bracelets themselves and they are paid based on the number of
bracelets they complete. How cool is that?.
