Misty Copeland
Misty Copeland just made history today as she became the first
black principal ballerina at the American Ballet Theater.
The American Ballet Theater has been around for 75 years and they
never had a black female principal ballerina. Misty has been in the company for 14 years and
has been a soloist for 8 of those years.
Just Last week, she became the
first black ballerina to dance Swan Lake at
the Metropolitan Opera House. Misty told Time.com “I am here to be a vessel for all of those brown ballerinas who have come before me”.

I have
been following Misty’s career for a very long time and she is so deserving of
this, she has worked very hard and this is what happens when you are at the top
of your game.
Congratulations Misty!!
