The Fall 2016 Couture Shows in Paris (Photos)

By: Farrah Estrella

The Fall 2016 Couture shows are in full swing in Paris this week and I am loving it. Having just returned from New York a few weeks ago and seeing the new “Manus X Machina” exhibit at the Met has given me so much more admiration for couture.

I really appreciate all that it takes to make a garment and how creative the designers are making this amazing gowns. It is my dream to attend the Paris Couture shows someday and I hope to make that dream come true soon. Just putting it out in the universe.

Haute Couture which literally means “High Sewing” is a dying Art form. Handmade gowns are so expensive to make and not all fashion houses can afford to do it.

Karl Lagerfeld and the house of Chanel are doing a lot to preserve couture and I hope that more and more people get interested in it. Even though most of us could not afford it, it doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate it, just like a painting, we may not know how to paint but that doesn’t take a away from us appreciating its beauty. Fashion is Art too, remember that.
