Fluvia Lacerda becomes first plus size model to make the cover of Playboy Brasil
Brazilian plus size model Fluvia Lacerda just became the first plus size model to make the cover of Playboy Brasil.
Playboy Brasil has been in business for over 40 years and this is the first time in the history of the magazine, that they use a plus size model to adorn their pages. Fluvia, 36, took to Instagram to express her happiness. She said in her post: “It’s officially out! All kinds of feelings about been the first plus size woman to ever grace the cover of Playboy Brazil!! But most of all I’m unbelievably happy and overwhelmed with so much love and support from so many of you! Thank you”.

The stunning model and mother of 2, also gave an interview to Brasilian Magazine Epoca in which she said: ´In February they called me and we’ve been negotiating with them ever since. I confess that initially I was not much of a fan of the idea, but I knew that in this new phase of the magazine, they are less sexual and more artistic. I liked the proposal they gave me and gave me free range to make the pictures the way I wanted them to. I will be on the cover that will be a special collector’s edition and the magazine is going to be in stands for three months”.
2016 has been the year of the plus size model. Plus size models like Ashley Graham and now Fluvia, are breaking barriers and opening doors. The plus size industry is a 20-billion-dollars industry and 67% of American women are a size 14 or higher, which is considered plus size. To say that there is lack of representation of plus size women in advertising and in magazines especially, is an understatement. I do feel that the tide is turning and that 2017 is going to be an even greater year for plus size models and for plus size fashion in general. Congratulations Fluvia!!. and don’t forget to get your copy on December 20th .
