A Closer Look at The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Costumes
Hola Estrellitas! I am a huge fan of the HBO Hit TV Show “Game of Thrones”. Besides the story that is full of fantasy, dragons, witches, as well as Queens and Kings, I love the costumes. It’s the fashionista in me! you can’t blame me.
Emmy Award winning costume designer Michele Clapton is the one in charge with bringing all the characters to life and telling their story through their clothes. I mean, can we talk about all of the dragon themed jewelry that actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Queen Daenerys Targaryen wears. It is so beautiful and fitting for the Dragon Queen.
I always say that fashion is all about the details and it is the little details that makes the Game of ThronesΒ costumes a cosplayer’s dream and a fan of fashion like me, excited to tune in to the show every week.
In the first couple of seasons of the show, the costumes were rich, glamorous, with embroidery, made of flowy fabrics and in pastel colors, such as white, gold, blue and pink hues. Now that Winter is finally here, the fabrics have gotten heavier and the colors darker (brown, black and grey) with lots of metal, leather, and fur adornments (capes, chains, and jewelry).
The costumes have become such a big part of the show that there is even a traveling exhibit of them. Throughout the seven seasons, there has been so many great costumes but we picked out some of our favorites. Check them out below.
