American actress Meghan Markle and Britain’s Prince Harry announced their engagement yesterday. The happy couple made a brief appearance before photographers in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace.

Meghan, 36, is 3 years older than Harry, who is 33. She is also a divorcee. This of course is not a big deal to us Americans but in Britain and to become part of The Royal Family, it used to be. I just finished watching the first season of the TV Show “The Crown” on Netflix and the part were King Edward VIII was forced to give up the throne because he was in love with Wallis Simpson, another American Divorcee. This is certainly not the case for Harry and Meghan, times have changed and Queen Elizabeth is very happy with their engagement.

We also cannot ignore the fact that she is a woman of color. Meghan is of mixed race; her mother is black and her father is white. This is a big deal! Meghan will be the first black Princess in the British Royal family and I couldn’t be more excited. The truth is, she is beautiful and they make a great couple.

Now let’s talk fashion, shall we? To announced their engagement Harry wore a blue suit and Meghan wore a white wrap coat from Canadian brand Line The Label, with an emerald green dress underneath by P.A.R.O.S.H, nude Aquazzura pumps and earrings by Canadian Jeweler Maison Birks.

Harry designed the engagement ring and it was made by Cleave and Company, Court Jewelers and Medallists to Her Majesty The Queen. The ring is made of gold and it features a large diamond from Botswana and two smaller diamonds from the personal collection of Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Royal Wedding between Meghan and Prince Harry is schedule for Spring 2018. Details have not yet been released but stay tuned, we will keep you posted as soon as we hear anything. Congratulations to the beautiful couple.
