
An evening with Viola Davis at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa
Tampa, Fla. (EFR)- Academy award-winning actress Viola Davis will be speaking at the University of South Florida Sun Dome in Tampa on Tuesday April 4th.
Due to high demand, the event had to be moved from the floor of the Marshall Student Center Ballroom at USF to the Sun Dome to accommodate more people.
Viola Davis won an Academy Award this year for her starring role alongside Denzel Washington in the movie “Fences”, an adaptation of August Wilson’s book of the same title. She also stars in the ABC hit show “How to Get Away with Murder”.
According to the USF Website, Viola will be speaking on “topics and issues related to both her personal identity and professional career. These include overcoming the adversity of poverty as a child, working through preconceived notions to become a stronger woman, and elevating the voices of other women of color through artistic platforms”.
Past speakers at USF Lecture Series include: Nyle DiMarco, Bill Nye, Soledad O’Brien, Hill Harper, Kevin Bacon, John Legend, Rosario Dawson, Common, Chaz Bono, Spike Lee and many more.Β The speech is free and open to the public but seating is limited, with preference given to USF students.Β Doors will open at 7:45 pm.
