Hola Estrellitas!! I have been counting the days until the Frida Kahlo at The Dali Museum exhibit in St. Petersburg, Florida opened and the day is finally here. I am a HUGE Frida Kahlo fan and this exhibit was life. The fact that it was done at the Dali Museum is also amazing, Dali and Frida, I mean, what else can you ask for?.
Let me give you guys the 411 on the exhibit. Over 60 Kahlo pieces are on display, including 15 painting, drawings and numerous personal photographs. There is also an outdoor part to the exhibit, where they have on display a special collection of plants and flowers, in honor of Frida’s love for flowers and similar to what she had at Casa Azul, her home in Mexico.
Dali Museum Executive Director Dr. Hank Hine had this to say about the Exhibit on the Museum’s website: “With her dreamlike images, Kahlo has stirred huge public interest beyond the traditional Art audience. In a way, Kahlo created a persona that serves as a contemporary feminine ideal – both tender and fierce”. He also added: “Much like Dali, she constructed an eccentric identity through the iconography in her paintings and then dressed and carried herself as the personality she created in her art. Painting by painting, she becomes a heroic figure of struggle and perseverance”.
I haven’t been to the Dali Museum in many years, since it was remodeled actually a few years ago and I was very impressed with what I saw. It really is one of the best local Museums in the Tampa Bay area. Normally Museums don’t let you take pictures and I was thrilled to be able to take a few to show you guys. Check them out down below.

The outdoor garden was also fabulous. I hope that these pictures get you excited about going to see it, it is worth it guys. Frida Kahlo is a true Icon, she was colorful, a real fashionista and a lover of life. Viva la Vida and Viva La Frida!!.
Get your tickets on the Dali Museum’s website at www.thedali.org. The Frida at the Dali Exhibit will be available from December 17, 2016 to April 17, 2017.
