The Queen of Daytime TV, Oprah Winfrey, received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement during tonight’s broadcast of the Golden Globes. She joins a distinguish list of honorees that have received this award in past including: Audrey Hepburn, Barbra Streisand, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Jodie Foster, Lucille Ball, Martin Scorsese, Meryl Streep, Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Robin Williams, Sidney Poitier, Sophia Loren, and Steven Spielberg, just to name a few.

Oprah, 63, looked radiant in a black, off the shoulder Atelier Versace gown and gave a very passionate speech. She said: “I want all of the girls watching here now to know, that a new day is on the horizon”. She also added: “And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say, ‘me too’ again.”

Oprah is the first black woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award and the fourth black person among the 64th previous winners. “It’s not lost on me that at this moment, there are little girls watching as I become the first black woman to receive this award” She said.

After that speech, I think that Oprah should run in 2020, right? What do you guys think? Would you vote for her? Let’s chat! Leave your comments below.
