The 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris
The 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show was held last night in Paris and there was a little bit of drama. This year’s musical guests included: Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and The Weeknd. One of the models on the show, Miss Bella Hadid, was engaged to The Weeknd and the two recently broke up. The pair exchanged awkward looks during his performance which had the internet buzzing. What also has the internet buzzing is that models Kendall Jenner, Bella and Gigi Hadid earned their wings, meaning they walked the runway wearing Victoria’s Secret famous wings. Usually that honor is reserved to more experienced models, meaning models who have done the show longer (They have only been doing it for a few years). I honestly don’t see a problem with this since Kendall, Gigi and Bella are three of the hottest models in fashion right now. It is smart to capitalized on their fame and social media following, that was a great move by Victoria’s Secret and you can also agree that the girls are also very beautiful and talented.
Walking the runway in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was a dream come true for the Hadid sisters. Their mom Yolanda Hadid, posted a photo on her Instagram account of the two of them when they were toddlers wearing wings with the caption: “17 years after I photographed my “ANGELS” Today is the day that they will be walking in the fashion show together”.
Now that’s pretty cool!!. So happy for them and that they are making their dreams come true. I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but there are 2 things that I don’t like about the show. One is that they don’t have any plus size models walking in it. I think that they should have at least one, we need some representation. The other is that the show is not televised LIVE. I wish it was but I understand that they want to edit the show for time, add some Victoria’s Secret commercials, backstage interviews etc.., the reason why I don’t like that is because by the time they televised it, I have already seen all of the pictures on the internet, just like today for example. I honestly feel like it takes away a little bit from the show but hey what do I know, Right? Millions of people still watch it so it can’t be that bad. Anyways, those are my two cents, congratulations to Gigi and Bella.
