The Bets of the Red Carpet at the 2017 Met Gala in NYC.

The Annual Met Gala is being held today in New York City and this year’s inspiration is none other than Comme des Garçons by Rei Kawakubo . If you are not familiar with the label than you have to brush off on your couture a little bit. Founded in 1969, Comme des Garçons is all about couture and fantasy, perfect for this Gala. Her looks are extravagant and outrageous. At 74 years old, there is no stopping this Japanese born designer who is always trying to break the rules.

The Gala is the kick off to the Met latest exhibit called “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”, that is going to run from May 4 to Sept 4, 2017. The exhibition features approximately 140 examples of Kawakubo’s womenswear designs for Comme des Garçons, dating from the early 1980s to her most recent collection.

Tickets to the Met Gala costs $30,000 dollars a piece and a table costs $275k dollars but that’s just change to all of these celebrities and artists. Last year the Gala raised over $13 million dollars for the Museum, not too shabby.
