USPS Announces New Oscar de La Renta Stamps

The United States Postal Service (USPS) announced recently that they are going to be honoring the late designer Oscar de La Renta with a series of stamps.

The 11 stamps series is going to feature a black-and-white portrait of the couturier and 10 pictures of details from several of his most exquisite gowns. According to the USPS website “De la Renta‘s innovative designs and close attention to detail elevated American style and brought international attention to New York as a world leader in fashion”. The stamps were designed by Art director Derry Noyes and the portraits were done by the artists Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Oscar de la Renta died in 2014. He was born in the Dominican Republic and was one of the most beloved designers in American fashion. Known for his big personality, couture gowns and exquisite taste, he dressed first ladies, royalty and many actresses and socialites.

The Oscar de la Renta stamps are going on sale on February 16, 2017.
