Barbie’s New ‘Inspiring Women’ Dolls For International Women’s Day Honors Modern Day Sheroes
In an effort to inspired more girls around the world and right on time for International Women’s Day (March 8), Barbie has released a new line of “Inspiring Women” dolls that come with educational information about them.
The 17 new Barbie dolls ( 14 modern and 3 historical figures) cost $29.99 each and they include the likeness of some of our modern day Sheroes including: Professional golfer Lorena Ochoa, journalist Martyna Wojciechowska, soccer player Sara Gama, actress and philanthropist Xiaotong Guan, ballerina Yuan Tan, fashion designer and entrepreneur Vicky Martin, Filmmaker Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman Director), wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin, championship boxer Nicola Adams, windsurfer Çağla Kubat, chef Hélène Darroze, volleyball champion Hui Ruoqi, and designer and entrepreneur Leyla Piedayesh.
In addition to the modern-day Sheroes, Barbie also introduced dolls of three historical figures including: Aviator Amelia Earhart, artist Frida Kahlo, and mathematician Katherine Johnson (Hidden Figures Movie).
